Hersheypark expected to reopen Tuesday after flooding Monday; ZooAmerica will stay closed

Hersheypark and ZooAmerica closed Monday due to excessive rainfall and flooding, the park said.

The closures were necessary, the park said, for “the safety of our guests.”

Hersheypark is expected to reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, “barring any unforeseen weather changes overnigt,” according to an update the park issued around 5 p.m. Monday. ZooAmerica will remain closed Tuesday.

Anyone planning a trip to Hersheypark should check the park’s website and social media channels for updates.

Unfortunately, due to the excessive rainfall over the past three days and localized flooding, Hersheypark and ZooAmerica will be closed Monday, July 23 for the safety of our employees and guests. Any additional changes to operating schedules will be provided here when available.

The parks were closed Monday as much of central Pennsylvania, including York County, was under a flood warning.

The region is in the middle of six days of excessive rain and storms, with up to 10 inches of rain expected.

A flash flood watch is in effect for most of the region through 8 p.m., Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
